British singer-songwriter, Sam Smith, is set to make history this weekend as his single for the new Bond movie, Spectre, looks destined to reach number one on the UK Singles Chart.
If Sam Smith's Writing's On The Wall (which he produced with the help of songwriter Jimmy Napes, and Disclosure) does hit the top spot, he will become the first ever artist to get there with a Bond theme – and what's more, it would mean Justin Bieber would not retain the number one spot with What Do You Mean? Tragic, we know, but currently, the multiple Brit Award-winner is slightly ahead of The Biebernator, so it's on the cards.
Remarkably, none of the previous 23 Bond themes have made it to number one. Adele's Skyfall (2012) and Duran Duran's A View To A Kill (1985) both peaked at number two. Let's hope our Sam can go one better.
