2022 Grammy Awards postponed amid Covid concerns

The 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony, which was due to take place later this month, has been postponed amid concerns over Covid and the rapidly spreading Omicron variant.

The current Omicron outbreak and the uncertainty it has caused around major events “simply contains too many risks”, said a statement by the Recording Academy and CBS.

A new date for the 2020 Grammys is yet to be announced, The original show was set to take place in LA on January 31.

Regarded as the biggest night on the music industry calendar, a raft of stellar artists featured on this year’s nominees shortlist, including the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber and jazz keyboardist Jon Batiste, who picked up the most nominations (11) and recently spoke to Headliner at length about his new album We Are. The 2021 Grammy Awards show was also postponed until March and took the form of a hybrid event, incorporating both in-person and digital elements.
