BTS took home the most awards at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards, which were held on 8 November 2020. Little Mix hosted the two-hour 27th annual ceremony, with all performances filmed at various locations around Europe due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
BTS took home four awards for Best Song, Best Group, Best Virtual Live, and Biggest Fans. Karol G won the first-ever Best Latin EMA and took home the award for Best Collaboration for Tusa featuring Nicki Minaj.
Lady Gaga was crowned the year's Best Artist, and DJ Khaled accepted the EMA for Best Video for Popstar featuring Drake, starring Justin Bieber.
The MTV EMA Generation Change Award was given to five women who have devoted their time, energy and talents to racial and social justice efforts around the world: Kiki Mordi, an investigative journalist working to end SARS in Nigeria, Temi Mwale, a racial justice campaigner in the UK, Catherhea Potjanaporn, a portrait photographer combatting colorism in Malaysia, Luiza Brasil, a fashion journalist in Brazil, and Raquel Willis, a Black transgender writer and activist in the US.
