Last night (November 23) saw the first of two semi-final showcases to uncover the next Yamaha Music London ambassadors was held at the brand’s luxurious London store, with four finalists taking their place in the final.
For the second year in a row, Headliner, in partnership with Yamaha Music London, is offering solo artists and duos the chance to become ambassadors for Yamaha’s flagship UK store. Whittled down from hundreds of entries, a shortlist was invited to perform at the store across two semi-finals – the second semi-final will take place on November 30, with the grand final following a week later on December 7, where three winners will be selected.
The first semi-final featured seven acts – Amyee Weir, Jide Kuti, Stone Jets, Matt Ellis, Ayygayle, Peter J Adamson, and Tom White – with four securing their place in the final on the night. The successful acts were selected by a panel of industry experts.
The acts to emerge victorious on the night were Jide Kuti, Stone Jets, Ayygayle, and Peter J Adamson.
The successful acts displayed a variety of different styles and genres, setting the tone for what will undoubtedly be a hotly contested final. London-based Kuti showcased his skills as a singer songwriter and guitarist, combining elements of pop and folk, while Stone Jets – the only duo to perform on the night – demonstrated their own distinct brand of soul through a pair of truly unique compositions.
Ayygayle performed took to one of the venue’s world class acoustic grand pianos to deliver two confessional ballads, described by the artist herself as ‘sad girl pop’, while Peter J Adamson also performed his tracks at the piano, weaving traditional pop with a laid back, elegant playing style.
