Fortnite Premieres New BTS Video On In-Game Social Space

Fortnite developer Epic Games held another huge in-game concert recently as South Korean boyband BTS debuted the video for their new single Dynamite.

The exclusive video premiere — which took place on the game’s Party Royale Island at 1am BST on the 26th of September — featured BTS’s choreography video for their latest global hit.

Party Royale is Fortnite’s brand new social space that the game launched earlier this year, and is located on a separate island from the rest of the game.

The space is free from combat and players cannot carry any tools or weapons to the island. Its main purpose is to allow players to hang out, watch movies and concerts, and of course to have fun.

Epic has already collaborated with some big names in music, including Marshmello and Travis Scott.

Nate Nanzer, Fortnite’s head of global partnerships, said in an interview with the Verge, that they have plans to turn Party Royale into a full-fledged virtual venue for artists, and are looking towards this new series of concerts to really kickstart the initiative.

That being said, music fans should expect to see more of their favourite artists gracing the main stage on the Party Royale Island, and it will certainly be interesting to see how Epic and Fortnite utilise this revolutionary new approach to multimedia entertainment.

“It’s something that we’re thinking about as a platform for artists,” said Nanzer. “Similar to the way if you’re an artist and you have a new album coming out, you might play on Fallon or Saturday Night Live, or some platform like that. We think this is a similar platform where you can get in front of the 350 million plus Fortnite players.”
