LD Systems Live Sessions: Jarki Monno performs ‘PettyCries’

In this thirteenth LD Systems Live Sessions, powered by Headliner, rising alt/indie pop singer-songwriter Jarki Monno performs original song PettyCries live at Darkwood Studios, St. Albans. Jarki performs through an LD Systems MAUI G3 rig and MON 15 A G3 Stage Monitors, and caught up with Headliner after his acoustic set…

How did you first get into music?

When I was younger, I was always a drama boy. I went to an amateur dramatics group and we used to do a lot of musical theatre. We’d go to the West End a lot, so I was always brought up around that style. Me and my sister used to just jam in the basement, doing a lot of covers, the likes of Paramore, Bruno Mars – all your proper pop stuff. I guess my family sort of started to see something in me that could be pushed a bit further. Lo and behold, X amount of years down the line, here I am. It’s been a real progressive journey.

Could you tell us what your track, PettyCries, is about?

PettyCries I guess is a song about, more so from a male side, not knowing your worth in a relationship, but still being f*cked over. It's about being messed around, but still not being able to leave. I think it's a very, very common topic on both sides of things. I am happy by the way, after that performance; I am all good! [laughs].

How did you find performing through the LD Systems rig?

I'd certainly recommend the LD Systems rig. I mean, one, it looks the part - it looks amazing. And it just gives a real natural feel, especially when you're doing intimate acoustic sessions like this, but I can imagine as well when taking it on with a band, it really gives the clarity of everything.
