Glastonbury Equinox Event Gets Green Light

A license has been approved for a live, in-person event dubbed Equinox to be held at the Glastonbury Festival site in September.

The license was granted by Mendip district council following a period of consultation with local authorities and residents. The event will take place in the absence of the traditional Glastonbury Festival, which has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

While 50,000 people will be able to attend, Equinox will be a single-day event with no camping. Details as to the line-up and ticketing have yet to be revealed.

This Saturday (May 22) will see a five-hour live stream event take place at the Worthy Farm site. Kicking off at 7pm, the event will feature performances from the likes of Coldplay, Damon Albarn, Haim, George Ezra, Michael Kiwanuka, Wolf Alice, Idles, Jorja Smith, Kano, Roisin Murphy, PJ Harvey, Jarvis Cocker and others.
