Rothwell shines at Gibson Guitar Studio

Bristol born singer, Rothwell, is a serious player in London’s up and coming music scene, her athletic vocals and personal lyrics combine to create a powerful yet meaningful sound. Rothwell is no stranger to recognition; she recently finished supporting Justin Bieber on the UK leg of his Purpose world tour, and has been picked up by Annie Mac and Mista Jam, to name a few. She really has shown herself to be an artist to watch.

On the 29th November, Rothwell hosted and performed at an intimate gig at the Gibson Guitar Studio in collaboration with Airbnb. The small raised stage, and ambient lighting, provided the perfect venue for an evening of music showcasing some of the capitals promising new talent.

Rothwell was the opening act of the evening and began with Busy, an acoustic version of an original song that she released in 2016. The pared down piano accompaniment meant that the vocals were at centre stage, and this is something this artist thrives on: her voice was powerful, and suited the acoustic nature of the song beautifully. She then moved onto Lucky Blue, which really showed her lyrical prowess; it's a song about heartbreak, and attempting to move on, with Rothwell managing to capture the sentiment perfectly.

After entertaining the crowd with a lively acoustic version of Corinne Bailey Rae’s Put Your Records On, Rothwell finished her set with her brand new single, Freedom – a real highlight of her performance. Her vocals truly came into their own, filling the small space perfectly, and the track is anthemic in its musicality, yet innocent in its approach to life and love.

Rothwell’s set showcased her vocal agility, the range of music that she has produced, as well as her vibrant and likeable character. 2018 is shaping up to be a very busy year for this young, talented Bristolian singer-songwriter.
