Soundtrack Released For The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark

The soundtrack has been released for point-and-click adventure game The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark, the sequel to 2017’s The Darkside Detective.

The game is set in Twin Lakes and features six cases for players – taking on the role of Detective McQueen – to solve as they attempt to rescue their sidekick Officer Dooley.

The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark is bringing its supernatural investigations to both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on April 15.

The soundtrack to The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark is composed by Thomas O’Boyle and comprises 33 tracks of music inspired by John Carpenter films from the ’80s, mystery television series Twin Peaks, wrestling themes, power ballads, horror elements, and the composer’s trip to Ireland.

“I wanted to evoke a kind of ‘80s-style noir affair but it was important that there be a subtle silliness bubbling beneath the surface,” said O’Boyle. “The overall diversity is something I’m hugely proud of given that I intentionally limited myself to a relatively narrow range of instruments.”

O’Boyle is a London-based, Irish composer. As a child, he first started writing his own music when he realised he “wasn’t good enough to learn anyone else’s”. He says that when he got good enough to play other people’s music he decided to keep writing his own anyway.

Since then he’s worked on film, theatre productions, videogames and various online media projects with creators from all over the world. His work stems from a passionate love of, and faith in, the power of music and sound to add immersion and intensity to any given moment.

The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark‘s soundtrack can be purchased and streamed from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Deezer, iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube Music ahead of the game’s release.
