Genelec continues to bridge gap between monitor and headphone mixing

Genelec is offering a monitoring solution that allows mixes to translate seamlessly between in-room monitors and headphones – combining The Ones and Aural ID.

The Ones series of compact three-way monitors boast impressive imaging, extended frequency response, controlled directivity and fatigue-free listening – designed to help users work faster and make more informed, consistent decisions, even on long sessions.

The range is bolstered further due to Genelec’s ever-evolving GLM calibration software, meaning The Ones can adapt to the most challenging of acoustic environments – allowing users to create a true sonic reference wherever they choose to work.

When switching to headphones, Genelec’s Aural ID provides a completely personalised listening experience that’s tailored to each user’s own unique physical features.

By analysing a person’s Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF) – the way a person’s head, ears and upper body affect the audio that they hear – Genelec’s experts model those features to calculate a person’s own personal HRTF, which can then be applied to their DAW headphone monitoring feed via the Aural ID personal plugin.

After some careful calibration, Genelec promises that those embracing Aural ID will notice that sounds achieve a much more natural sense of space and direction, moving from ‘inside’ a person’s head to their correct position in the mix, providing headphone monitoring audio professionals can rely on – from stereo to immersive.

Aural ID is optimised to provide the ideal bridge between monitors and headphones, offering users a smooth, uninterrupted workflow while facilitating perfect translation between the precision of The Ones’ ultra-nearfield in-room monitoring, and a neutral, truthful and accurate headphone mix.

And because users can fine tune Aural ID for both sound localisation and colouration – and also import calibration files directly from the GLM calibration software – Genelec has created a monitoring solution that provides seamless integration of in-room and headphone monitoring – in either direction.

To make use of this unique technology combination, anyone that purchases and registers a brand new pair of The Ones monitors (8331A, 8341A, 8351B or 8361A) between Jan 1 and December 31 2022 will qualify for their own complementary 12 month subscription to Aural ID, worth €490.

Simply register the monitors at www.genelec.com/register-products, and Genelec will be in touch to arrange the creation and electronic delivery of your very own Aural ID.

Genelec will provide all the support and guidance needed to allow users to quickly realise the many benefits of this unique monitoring combination.
