Mackie Introduces Onyx Series Analogue Mixers & New SRT Series

Mackie has announced its new line of Onyx Mixers, including four variations: Onyx8, Onyx12, Onyx16, and Onyx24. Each feature 24-Bit/96kHz multitrack USB recording, high-gain Onyx mic preamps and an end-to-end ultra-low-noise design.

Targeted towards live audio, home recording, and content creation applications, the Onyx line-up features Mackie’s Onyx mic preamps and analogue circuitry, and a unique Perkins “British Style” EQ with sweepable midrange – emulating the classic EQ sounds of consoles from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Onyx provides the ability to easily record and playback from a Mac or PC via USB, or users can record a main mix directly to an SD card. Every Onyx model is equipped with Studio Command, a full-colour display and single knob interface for managing the built-in FX and SD card file for browsing, recording and playback.

“Mackie Onyx has become synonymous with excellent, professional sound,” said Matt Herrin, product manager at Mackie. “And we are excited to bring these brand-new analogue mixers under the renowned Onyx name that are built for the needs of modern musicians and content creators.”

The Onyx8 eight-channel premium analogue mixer’s key features include high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz recording, powerful DSP, and more. Users can expect to capture the best performance at home or on the go with Onyx8. This model is priced at £364 ($499.99).

The Onyx12 with USB features the standout features of the Onyx8 with an expanded 12-channel offering, and is priced at £437 ($599.99).

Meanwhile, the Onyx16 (£509 / $699.99) with USB takes on the Onyx8’s key features but with an expanded 16-channel offering, while the Onyx24 with USB does the same, but with an expanded 24-channel offering. This model is priced at £655 ($899.99).

All-New SRT Series

Also new from Mackie is its line of SRT Professional Powered Loudspeakers, which were specifically crafted for working musicians and includes three 1,600W loudspeakers: SRT210 (10”), SRT212 (12”), and SRT215 (15’).

The line also includes an 18” 1,600W professional powered subwoofer, the SR18S. All models in the new line boast complete wireless control via Mackie’s SRT Connect App.

Made for working musicians, the manufacturer claims that this lineup boasts more output than any other loudspeaker in its class, and notably they are built with Mackie’s signature “Built-Like-A-Tank” construction, ensuring that these speakers are made to last, even when touring.

Key features include Advanced Impulse DSP, input overload protection, and wireless streaming and control – making them suitable for music creators.

“We made this line for real-world working musicians and DJs that are ready for an upgrade in sound quality and power without breaking the bank,” said Matt Redmon, director of product marketing at Mackie.

"We packed some of our best technology, tuning and user-friendly features while keeping them at a price that is realistic for just about anyone.”

The SRT210 10” loudspeaker features Advanced Impulse DSP (proprietary acoustic tuning), amplifiers with balanced distribution and up to 128dB, plus an ultra-versatile SRT Mix Control built-in four-channel mixer with full-colour display.

Easy to set up, the SRT210 is priced at £363 ($499) and includes total wireless control of up to two SRT series loudspeakers via the SRT Connect app available for iOS and Android.

The SRT212 12” model features all standout items in SRT210, upping the sound pressure level to 132dB, and is priced at £436.44 ($599).

The SRT215 15” (£509.30 / $699) follows suit, featuring all of the key features found in the SRT210, this time upping the sound pressure level to 133dB.

Not forgetting the SR18S 18” subwoofer (£582 / $799), which adds powerful low end bass frequency and grants an increase in efficiency and output for musicians’ whole systems, making it a perfect complement to existing setups. It’s also easy to dial in with an adjustable crossover, versatile I/O, and unique voicing modes.

This subwoofer features 133dB output and a frequency response range from 33Hz-200Hz.
