SSL unveils ‘most versatile Bus compressor ever’ with The Bus+

SSL (Solid State Logic) has released The Bus+, a new Bus Compressor described by the company as ‘the most versatile incarnation of the Bus Compressor ever’.

Ever since the launch of the first commercially released SSL 4000 B console in 1976, the Bus Compressor has always been the heart of the console centre section. Now, SSL has developed The Bus+, which adds several unique colouration options and advanced processing tools.

It can be clean and punchy, like the SSL SuperAnalogue 9000 Series version, whilst also offering the option of a gritty sound akin to the early 4000E.

The Bus+ circuit design features numerous high-grade components, including 2181 THAT VCAs for analogue performance, four modes of operation and three compression colouration options that can be combined to suit the genre you’re working on.

All of the pots on The Bus+ are stepped and read by a microcontroller, which translates the pots position into the required circuit configuration or electrical parameter. This makes recall easier and is suitable for precision processing applications like mastering.

Meanwhile, The Bus+ incorporates a host of advanced processing tools, including the new Dynamic Analogue Equaliser (D-EQ), which is a powerful two-band Dynamic EQ that can be placed before or after the Bus Compressor.
