Dolby Introduces Mastering on SoundCloud

Creators can now master tracks directly on SoundCloud, powered by Dolby. The new mastering tool gives users instant and affordable access to the audio brand's technology, directly from a SoundCloud workflow.

Designed to give users access to an easy-to-use online mastering tool without ever leaving their SoundCloud accounts, the new solution is directly integrated into a creator’s SoundCloud workflow. Creators can select a profile from a custom suite of mastering styles, which are powered by Dolby’s audio technology.

Dolby’s mastering technology doesn’t just analyse the track, it is designed to critically listen to the music – similar to the way an engineer would – identifying the details, the sections and musical transitions that give a song its unique story arc.

Using the mastering profiles of the user’s choice, this detailed ‘sonic map’ is then used to sculpt the tone and overall dynamic profile of a mix while prioritising the creative intent, making it ready for streaming playback.

Any creator can start mastering on SoundCloud for £3.98/ $4.99 per master. It costs the same to master any file type (even lossless HD like WAV, FLAC or AIFF), so it is recommended that the user uploads the highest quality, as the mastering output will reflect the same format.

Pro Unlimited subscribers get three free masters every month with the option to purchase
more for £3.18 / $3.99 each.

Creatives can try Mastering on SoundCloud for free to test out unlimited snippets of their tracks before taking the leap.
