The top 20 most streamed horror film soundtracks and most played songs have been revealed.
A total of 48 of the most streamed horror movie soundtracks were identified on Spotify as part of this study, and utilising royalty calculator, Musicgateway.com, the highest earning soundtracks were revealed.
The highest earning horror movie soundtrack is Dracula 2000, with an estimate of £1,531,276.56 in music royalties and 445 million combined Spotify plays.
Despite the film’s negative reception, it features a combination of rock and metal tracks from the likes of Saliva’s Your Disease and Linkin Park’s One Step Closer, the latter of which has accumulated over 400 million plays alone.
Following in second place is Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack, with a potential estimated earnings of £1,057,283.71 in royalties due to garnering over 300 million combined Spotify plays so far.
Securing its place in third is 1987’s The Lost Boys soundtrack with over 35 million Spotify plays, estimated to be worth over £122,649.36 in royalties – beating Halloween in fourth place.
